Cancer Wellness Magazine

I get to meet some pretty cool chicks doing what I do

Most recently, I had the pleasure of chatting with Caylei Vogelzang, Editor-In-Chief of Cancer Wellness Magazine. Think of her as your cancer concierge. We’re not just talking breast cancer. She and her editorial staff have created a ” New, enlightened lifestyle magazine for those affected by cancer. Based in Chicago but with a national reach, Cancer Wellness’ unique mix of health, wellness, beauty, entertainment, and medical coverage provides all the essentials for an ever-growing community to thrive with and beyond the scope of cancer.”

Caylei and her husband Nick own Vogelzang Law, a Chicago-based firm that specializes in mesothelioma

By the time most patients came to them, they only had 1-2 years to live. “It was tough to see it, tough to take. We received questions like, ‘What do we do now? What do you recommend?’ I didn’t have solid suggestions for these patients and I felt disappointed in myself that I didn’t. “

Caylei decided to brainstorm with another employee to see how they could create a resource guide for these patients. They began to create a list and before they knew it, this list was 20 pages long. Their idea soon evolved into a magazine. A very unique and much-needed one at that!

Cancer Wellness Magazine launched its debut issue in July 2018 and is distributed quarterly

Caylei and her team are gearing up for a fabulous launch party at Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue on June 13th. It’s open to the public, so if you’re in town, please check it out! They’ll be bringing in representatives and founders of various clean beauty brands such as Indi Lee and Jenny Patinkin. Champagne and apps to be served as well. “What goes on us, goes in us. I love skin care lines that you can trust. Fashion brands that are luxurious yet functional. We’re constantly looking to find resources to improve people’s lives,” explains Caylei.

When I asked Caylei what surprised her the most about launching a magazine she said…

“I discovered that nothing is impossible.  The stories that have come to us are of people bearing their hearts and souls not just to us, but to our population, our audience. Cancer has been so closeted. I  wasn’t prepared for people to literally remove their shirts when revealing their scars. Women are saying look, this is what happened to me and this is how I’ve dealt with it. This is how I’ve managed to THRIVE.”

Caylei’s dream is to make Cancer Wellness Magazine available around the world, and she can’t wait for it to be translated into other languages. They even have an app in the works! Please continue to keep your eyes on this fantastic resource. Thank you Cancer Wellness Magazine for creating this beautiful platform! Follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
