Beauty 911. What’s Your Emergency?
I hope everyone is safe, healthy and staying home. If there was ever a time for self-care, I’d say it would be now.The bubble baths are nice. Face masks are always a treat. But there are some things that we really need some expert advice for. The lashes…the nails…the brows…the list goes on. I’m certainly not saving lives here, but if I can offer some good “Beauty 911” solutions, then I’m happy I can help! I couldn’t do this one alone, so I brought in a couple of amazing experts to give us some tips and great products to try…..at home.
LASHING OUT
I’m a frequent flyer over at the Muah Makeup & Lash Bar in Westwood, NJ. , so I asked founder, Ashlee K., what we could do to spice up at-home date nights and this is what she suggested.
“For pretty bright eyes, line your top lash line with a Felt Tip Liner. Lay the marker flat along your lashes and pull across. To open up your eyes, run a Nude Eyeliner pencil along your waterline (aka your bottom lash line). To top it off, apply a full strip of Mink Lashes. This will lift your eyes and make them really stand out!”
Thank you Ashlee, for coming to our rescue! Oh, FYI…. EVERYTHING on the Muah Makeup website is 30% off?!?
NAILING IT
I asked Nas for some advice about taking care of your nails while undergoing chemotherapy (AND in quarantine), here’s the scoop:
A. Don’t cut your cuticles, use oils on the nail to keep the cuticles from drying out. And no artificial nails ever please.
A. Yes, they’re definitely safe for cancer patients, people with allergies, children and expectant mothers.
Nas gave away THOUSANDS of dollars worth of his hand sanitizer to local hospitals, police and fire departments due to COVID-19. A big thank you to you Nas, for your incredible generosity!
A. Gels may be soaked of, but if you have acrylics it’s best to let them grow out (cut and file them)

I had such a nice chat with Ramy the other day. While I had his ear, I asked him for some do’s and don’ts when doing your own brows. Read carefully, ladies:
1. Take a conservative approach when grooming your brows. When in doubt, don’t pluck it out!
2. If you’re afraid of ruining your brow shape, outline your brows first with a brow pencil, making you’re brows look as full as possible, then tweeze only the hairs outside the pencil to keep brows clean without over-tweezing.
3. Always trim before you tweeze (if your brows need trimming). Once you trim the hairs you’ll realize you don’t need to tweeze as much as you thought.
Thank you Ramy! We will be sure to channel you when we (courageously) attempt to do our own….
